The Opportunity: Estimator
Our client has an exciting opportunity for an Estimator to join their dynamic and collaborative Sales & Estimating team. This role offers a supportive learning environment, structured development, and clear progression opportunities within a market‑leading organisation.
Reporting to the Estimating Manager, you will play a key role in supporting tender submissions, pricing works, and ensuring accurate, commercially sound estimates for a wide range of surfacing projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyse drawings, specifications, and tender documentation to determine project requirements.
- Arrange and attend site visits where required, considering labour, materials, risks, and commercial opportunities.
- Carry out take‑off measurements from drawings and onsite assessments.
- Support the preparation of job costing, pricing of labour, materials, and time, ensuring timely submission of estimates.
- Maintain and uphold company standards regarding onerous terms and conditions.
- Identify and escalate onerous terms to the Estimating Manager for direction.
- Maintain an accurate and up‑to‑date resource database to support precise estimating.
- Build and develop strong relationships with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors.
- Prepare tender packages and liaise with suppliers and subcontractors, including negotiation where required.
- Ensure estimates are based on approved, competent subcontractors and suppliers.
- Maintain clear, concise, and accurate records throughout the estimating process.
- Provide general administrative support to the Estimating Department as needed.
- Stay up to date with industry developments, market conditions, and competitor activity.
- Demonstrate strong time management and a flexible approach to workload and priorities.
