Smart City Recruiters Ltd are currently looking to recruit a Survey and Design Project Lead for our client in the Blantyre or Leyland regions.

Our clients are focused on the design, build and maintenance of telecom infrastructure for key clients in the fixed telecom market. Working collaboratively with clients, our client brings commitment, innovation, teamwork and accountability to deliver long- term partnerships. They are part of the Telecom Division of a group of companies. They deliver a range of essential infrastructure services to the utilities, transport, data and telecom sectors across the UK and Ireland.

As the Survey and Design Project Lead, you will be part of our clients Design Services Management team.

You will be responsible for all project management and back-office enablement for the delivery of surveys is carried out to facilitate a seamless project delivery.

You will be responsible for managing a team of project coordinators and administrators to ensure the delivery of surveys are carried out in line with our client’s overall project delivery plan. A key part of the role will be managing a schedule of surveys required ensuring that surveys move through the work order queue in a timely and efficient manner. As part of the role your team will coordinate the allocation of surveys out to the field, create surveys packs for surveyors to use in the field, and ensure the return of surveys in the appropriate format to return to the customer. You will need to establish an excellent working relationship with the Operational Leads who are responsible for the surveyors in the field, and with the Programme Management Office, who are responsible for the survey and build program as a whole.

As the Survey and Design Project Lead your duties & responsibilities will be:

  • Manage a team of high-performing project coordinators and administrators who are responsible for all survey work orders.
  • Manage and maintain a number of work order queues of work as they progress through our work management system, ensuring queues are kept at the optimum level and all associated tasks are completed at each stage.
  • Manage a team responsible for the creation of surveys pack, for the field-based surveyors to utilise.
  • Manage a team responsible for the assessment of build packs to ensure they align with our original survey inputs.
  • Monitor performance of the surveys against the overall project plans issued by the Programme Management Office and provide regularly reporting on the performance.
  • Ensure there are key members of the team appointed to act as the first point of escalation for any queries from the build team relating to completed surveys whilst also ensuring you are an escalation point for any issues arising from the Programme Management Office.
  • Organise and manage weekly team calls to review performance and address any issues the team are facing.
  • Early identification of any areas that may not meet required targets and create /execute plans in cooperation with the Programme Management Office.
  • Take responsibility and ownership for the development of back-office processes and systems to ensure efficient management of the surveys in line with any customer-driven requirements.
  • Provide support and representation from the survey organisation into the Programme Management Office for internal and customer calls.
  • Build close working relationships with Operational leads responsible for the teams of surveyors, ensuring an effective communication flow between the back office and operations teams.
  • To maintain professional development to meet the changing demands of the job, participate in appropriate training activities.
  • To undertake such other duties, training and/or hours of work as may be required from time to time, and which are consistent with the general level of responsibility of this job.
  • Carry out all work in accordance with the company quality procedures.
  • Always work safely in accordance with the company’s Health and Safety policies.

Skills & Knowledge Requirements

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent practical experience in project management, business administration, or another relevant subject.
  • Proven track record in Project Management roles, or performance management role is desirable.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills enabling you to tailor your approach to the wide array of stakeholders.
  • Ability and willingness to communicate with stakeholders, through the use of power point presentations.
  • Experience of managing remotely or managing a multi-site operation preferable.
  • Excellent IT skills and the ability to pick up new systems with ease.
  • The use of expert excel skills are fundamental part of the role.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, combined with a can-do attitude.
  • Telecom’s experience is an advantage but not essential.
  • National travel required periodically for team meetings and engagement with other members of the Project team.
