Our client has the capacity to undertake and complete a wide range of contracts valued from £5,000 to £5,000,000 and offer a wide range of civil engineering, demolition, construction & survey services.
The Role
Our client is looking for a Estimator / Quantity Surveyorr to manage the commercial and contractual aspects of civil engineering and construction projects, from initial cost planning through to final account settlement. The Quantity surveyor will ensure alignment between company and client requirements, with a focus on cost efficiency, value optimisation and risk management to support the successful delivery of projects to agreed standards, budgets and timescales.
Responsibilities
- Prepare accurate, auditable cost estimates for water and wastewater schemes across all stages of AMP8 delivery
- Develop estimates using first principles, historical data, framework rates and supply chain quotations
- Support target cost development in accordance with NEC contracts and LWE commercial governance
- Prepare and issue subcontract and supplier pricing packages within programme timescales
- Identify and manage cost risk, opportunity and value engineering options
- Work collaboratively with design, construction, commercial and planning teams
- Present cost plans and estimates to senior management and client representatives for review and settlement
- Provide regular progress updates to the estimating team
- Ensure workload is planned to meet programme and client deadlines
- Maintain estimating records, assumptions and benchmark data
- Demonstrate flexibility in working hours to support programme requirements

- Support the wider commercial team with administrative duties, including data entry into internal systems and maintaining accurate filing structures

Technical Skills & Experience
- Minimum 5 years’ relevant experience in a Estimating / Quantity Surveyor role, within Civil Engineering
- Strong numerical and financial management skills with a high level of commercial awareness
- Proven experience in cost control, forecasting and commercial reporting
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and associated financial systems
