Location: Birmingham (Head Office)

Overview of Position
Principally to manage our clients Transport Department ensuring full regulatory compliance whilst delivering service excellence internally, and to all clients and business stakeholders•To deliver a fit for purpose fleet of low loaders, hook and tipper wagons, vans, cars and other means of transport prioritising safety and regulatory compliance and ensuring that our client deliver on their strategic objectives.
•To ensure the continuous and effective management of our clients fleet to meet compliance with Road Transport law and Operator Licence Requirements.
•To provide guidance to managers and employees across the business to ensure Operator License compliance at all times.
•To manage and administrate outsourced service providers.
•To install positive culture towards driver behaviour, road risk & safety and improve performance.
Key Requirements of Position
•Maintain Operator License data to the satisfaction of the Office of the Traffic Commissioner and DVSA. Maintain with accuracy fleet and business data held on the Gov.UK website.
•Manage and enforce company processes and procedures to ensure full compliance with the requirements of the Operator License.
•Administrate, advise, and inform the wider business on all legislative updates relating to Operator License compliance, record keeping requirements, vehicles checks, maintenance, and condition reporting.
•Provide advice on opportunities to improve existing control measures and implement agreed changes
•Ensure that fleet processes comply fully with legislative requirements of continuous motor insurance.
•Provide support and advice to all employees within the business.
•Ensure all vehicles are serviced as per manufactures recommended service intervals and LOLER tests are kept up to date.
•Ensure that vehicles and equipment are maintained in a fit and proper manner, in accordance with vehicle & equipment operating manuals.
•Ensure vehicle tachograph recording equipment is inspected and calibrated in accordance with legislative timescales.
•Collate and monitor all driver tachographs and relevant information via the approved tachograph analysis software for auditing and management purposes.
•Produce a monthly report detailing drivers’ hours and tachograph information.
•Keep the Directors and Senior Managers of the business fully informed of any issues arising that require action.
•Ensure all transport and fleet employees are kept abreast of safety related issues and all training is completed in a timely manner.
•Assist in the delivery of associated transport and fleet safety bulletins and toolbox talks.
•To keep drivers informed about any changes in procedures and provide them with relevant information about their work/legislation/training if necessary. Arrange and conduct driver meetings to ensure all drivers are kept up to date with company activities including current, new, and future legislation.
•To ensure all complaints are investigated and remedial measure put in place where necessary and prompt communication back to the complainant is made.
Qualifications and Experience
•Possess a certificate of Professional Competence (CPC)
•Minimum of 3-years’ experience working as a Transport Manager within a similar environment
•Sound technical background in light and heavy vehicle and car technologies.
•Skilled communicator and able to communicate at all levels.
•Commercial awareness
•Awareness of Health & Safety Regulations
