Description
Smart City Recruiters Ltd are recruiting a number of Fibre Engineers for work in the Midland areas must have experience working on PIA works. 
We are looking for Fibre engineers that have experience and ability to build and thoroughly test various Fibre Optic networks - more specifically Openreach network.

Key experience required:
  • Testing networks to client specification. Ability to record tests, create print outs and deliver reports to prescribed timescales and all other elements required to undertake the testing of the installed fibre cable.
  • Ability to find, recognise and understand fault whether it be a faulty splice, a micro-bend, fibre creepage, a trapped fibre etc.
  • Ability to understand cable diagrams and fibre splicing schematics and overlaying this to what is on site.
  • Comfortable with prepping and Splicing 12 and to up to 432 fibres, on any size cable, in various types of joints and producing work at required outputs on a daily basis.
  • Ability to install and work on ODF panels and internal tray and containment work.
  • Experience in working in various external street cabinets.
  • Understanding and experience on working in confined spaces, overheads and customer internal locations.
  • Blowing fibre bundle/cable.
  • Working inside customer premises to splice fibres, run cable, install and test equipment.
- Ability to work away from home for short periods and work in callout rotas for 1 week per month to cover ERS Works.
- Good Customer Facing Skills

Accreditations and skills required:
  • City & Guilds 3667-02 Unit 1 – Basic Principles of Communications Cabling
  • City & Guilds 3667-02 Unit 2 – Fibre Optic Cabling in an Internal Environment
  • City & Guilds 3667-02 Unit 3 – Fibre Optic Cabling in an External Environment
  • City & Guilds 3667-02 Unit 4 – Copper Cabling in an Internal Environment
  • NRSWA Unit 2 - Signing, Lighting and Guarding
  • Full UK driving licence
  • BT accreditations - G01, A8, A9, A12, SA002, PIA.
  • Confined space awareness and or entry medium risk

This is a permanent position.

Van and tools provided.
